Kensington news: backpack giveaways, a water gun fight and more
Backpack season is underway! We’ve got lots of places for you to scoop up new school supplies before classes start – plus a few opportunities to get wet and cool off on hot days.
Our standards, independence, reporting process, and how we correct mistakes.
We are committed to accurate, community-informed, and transparent reporting. Our mission is to serve all people in Kensington and North Philadelphia with accountability, clarity, and respect — combining community engagement, direct service, and local journalism that puts residents first.
Kensington Voice maintains full editorial control over the content we publish. While we accept donations and grants to support our mission, our funders have no influence over the topics we cover, the stories we choose, or how we report them.
We adhere to the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) Membership Standards and disclose all significant financial contributions over $5,000 annually.
We follow a rigorous reporting process to ensure our journalism is accurate, fair, and community-centered:
We strive for accuracy in every story. If you believe we have published an error, please contact us at editor@kensingtonvoice.com. Corrections will be clearly noted at the top or bottom of the affected story, along with the date the change was made.
We prioritize primary sources, public records, and direct interviews. Anonymous sources are used only when they provide critical information that cannot be obtained otherwise, and their identity is protected for safety or privacy reasons.
Staff and contributors must disclose any personal or financial interests related to the stories they cover. We avoid assignments where conflicts of interest may exist.
Kensington Voice is a fiscally sponsored project of Media Alliance Project (EIN: 26-0307123). We publish an annual list of donors and supporters on our Supporters page.
