Editorial Policies

Our standards, independence, reporting process, and how we correct mistakes.

Kensington Voice is an independent, nonprofit newsroom. Our editorial decisions are made solely by our staff. Funders, sponsors, and partners have no influence over what we cover or how we cover it.

Accuracy and fact-checking

We verify information before publication using primary sources, public records, and direct interviews. When a story relies on data, we cite the source.

Corrections

When we make an error, we correct it promptly and note the correction at the top of the story. To report an error, email editors@kensingtonvoice.com.

Unnamed sources

We use unnamed sources only when identifying the source could put them at risk. We verify information from unnamed sources through documents, additional interviews, or other independent means before publishing. When we grant anonymity, we explain to readers why.

Sponsorship and advertising

Sponsored content is clearly labeled. Editorial content is never influenced by advertisers or donors.

Ownership and funding

Kensington Voice is a fiscally sponsored project of Movement Alliance Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 26-0307123). For a full list of our supporters, visit our supporters page.

Use of artificial intelligence

Kensington Voice uses AI tools to assist with research, drafting, and illustration. AI is used as a starting point, not a final product. All factual claims in AI-assisted content are independently verified by Kensington Voice staff using primary sources, public records, and direct outreach to agencies. AI-generated illustrations are labeled as such in their captions. AI is never used to fabricate quotes, sources, or data. Editorial judgment — including what to cover, how to frame it, and what to publish — is made by humans.
