Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity is urging eligible residents to apply for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program before the Dec. 31 deadline.
The program provides rebates to Pennsylvanians who meet income requirements, including seniors 65 and older, widows and widowers age 50 and older, and people with disabilities age 18 and older.
“There’s still a few weeks left to apply for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, and I hope every eligible Pennsylvanian will take advantage of this opportunity,” Garrity said. “Treasury works as quickly as possible to process approved rebates to Pennsylvanians in need.”
Property tax and rent rebate payments began going out July 1. As of this month, the Treasury Department has issued more than 502,000 rebates totaling over $307 million.
The current household income limit is $46,520 for both renters and homeowners, with applicants allowed to exclude half of their Social Security income when calculating eligibility. The maximum standard rebate is $1,000, with some applicants qualifying for supplemental payments.
Last year, the program distributed more than $315 million to approximately 517,500 Pennsylvanians.
Applicants can check the status of their rebate through the MyPATH tool on the state’s website or get additional information by visiting pa.gov, calling 888-222-9190, or contacting their local legislative office.
