Youth Artist Program Manager and Instructor

Taller Puertorriqueño

Reporting to Education Director, the Youth Artist Program Manager & Instructor is responsible for developing, delivering, and coordinating Taller Puertorriqueño’s (Taller) Youth Artist Program (YAP), a visual arts training program with a strong Puerto Rican/Latin American cultural component in accordance with the mission and educational philosophy of the agency. In addition, this position supports the operations of Taller’s Julia de Burgos Gift Shop (Gift Shop) as a substitute store attendant on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • • Bachelor’s degree in the visual arts and/or education required.
  • • 1-3 years experience in an art related field in the community, 1-3 years experience teaching children/youth preferably in the arts.
  • • Fluent in the Spanish and English languages is highly desirable.
  • • Proficient in keyboard skills and Microsoft Office software (minimum of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and desktop publishing and/or graphic design knowledge is highly desirable.
  • • Knowledge of and interest in Puerto Rican and Latin American art and culture.
  • • Work independently as well as collaboratively as a team member. Good interpersonal skills.
  • • Commitment to Taller’s mission and role in the community.
  • • Background check required.
  • • Proof of COVID vaccination.

Pay rate: Minimum wage is $13.50 per hour and maximum wage $14.87 per hour.

A lead baker is responsible for having knowledge of all aspects of the operation, as well as training, being the point person for all decisions, and keeping the train moving.

Commercial Corridor Manager

Economic Development & Housing Resilience Coordinator

Community-Based Soccer Coach

The Outreach Driver supports the EARN Program through compliance management, assisting in the maximization of efficient and effective service delivery to EARN customers. Seasonal Maintenance Attendant

PPR is currently hiring a seasonal maintenance attendant for a 6-month position to maintain and improve McPherson Square Park. Tasks include the following:

  • Pick up/gather litter and trash in the park; empty trash cans; deliver trash to a central disposal area.
  • Sweep/Shovel and clear pathways and steps
  • Trim and clear around shrubbery, trees, fences and poles
  • Shovel and remove silt and debris to clear drainage outlets
  • Report all graffiti & hazards to your supervisor
  • Pick up cuttings from beneath pruned trees
  • Pick up small branches and twigs that fall from trees; report all branches that cannot be moved to your supervisor
  • Rake and pick up leaves/debris along fence-lines
  • Wearing your safety vest is mandatory

A standard workday includes a 30-minute lunch. Discuss best work days and times with your supervisor. Your district supervisor may change your schedule if needed. By accepting this SMA position, you have agreed to work the occasional weekend days. Park SMAs still have to report to work on a rainy day. In the case of extreme weather, your supervisor will assign you to a different location.

Pay rate: $13.75 per hour, 20 hours a week

Lifeguard

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR)

PPR is hiring dozens of lifeguards for the summer as pools will reopen this year. To be considered for a position, you must pass a lifeguard screening given by a water safety instructor. You must be 15 years or older to attend a Parks & Rec lifeguard screening but you must be 16 years or older to work as a lifeguard for the City of Philadelphia.

Screening is free of charge. The lifeguard training course fees are:

Lifeguards ages 25+ who get a job at a Parks & Rec pool:  

  • Certification: $110. 
  • Recertification: $65.

Lifeguards ages 16–24 who get a job at a Parks & Rec pool: 

  • Certification: FREE. 
  • Recertification: FREE.

Pay rate: Starting salary for all Parks & Rec lifeguards is $14.75 per hour, with a salary cap of $16.97 per hour.
