June 24
- Community embroidery workshop at Taller Puertorriqueno (2600 N. 5th St.) from 4 to 6 p.m. Artist Richie Wilde Lopez will teach participants basic embroidery skills and have them stitch together a single word of their choosing. - “A Sharp Endless Need” book launch hosted at H&H Books from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Author Marisa Crane will discuss their latest novel, “A Sharp Endless Need,” with Philly-based poet Kayleb Rae Candrilli. - Health & Wellness Conference hosted by the Community Support Program (CSP) at Taller Puertorriqueno (2600 N. 5th St.) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year’s theme is “Empowering Communities to Fight for Health Care,” and will feature speakers like the Pennsylvania Health Access Network’s Medicaid Advocate Robin Stelly and Social Change Advocate Bill Holt. - Neighborhood assembly hosted by the Norris Square Community Action Network (NSCAN) at Xiente Children’s Center (2011 Mascher St.) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees can join and discuss what issues in the neighborhood matter the most to them and get involved with their local community groups. - Pride story time hosted by H&H Books from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Child educator Adrienne Barnett (Ms. AJ) and author Sarah Prager will share historical LGBTQ+ stories from Prager’s picture book, “Kind Like Marsha: Learning from LGBTQ+ Leaders.” Visit this link to register and learn more.

- Teen mentorship program hosted by Timoteo Sports at The CORE (3222 H St.) from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The program is for teens ages 12 to 18 and provides participants with goal setting, character development and confidence building. Free Trainings
- Beyond Literacy is offering free test prep classes for jobs in the energy industry. These classes prepare participants for the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) and Assistant Mechanic Operator (AMO) tests, which will open doors for jobs like Distribution Mechanic, Energy Technician and more. Funding Opportunities
- The Philadelphia Department of Commerce is offering its Small Business Catalyst Fund to qualifying small businesses. The grant for each business could go up to $50,000 and includes business education and technical support. To qualify, your business must be located in Philadelphia, be up to date on city taxes or have been approved for a tax payment agreement, and be registered and licensed with the City of Philadelphia. - The city’s Business Security Camera Program is open for applications. Businesses who use the program must register their cameras with the Philadelphia Police Department, which allows the police to contact the business to view footage in case of a crime.
